Happy Star Wars Wednesday! This week we are going back to Anakin’s mom for more Biblical advice on life…

Shmi Skywalker: You can’t stop change any more than you can stop the suns from setting.

If you’ve lived long enough, you’ll notice something—over time everything changes. Even traditions. Nothing stays the same forever. People age and die. Families move together and apart. Marriages, children, grandchildren. Every four to eight years we get a new President. New laws are made, old laws are reformed. If we go back just ten years ago, there were no iPhone or iPads. Most of us still had dumb phones.

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven ~ Ecclesiastes 3:1 ESV

Change happens, sometimes for the good and sometimes for the bad, but things are always going to change. Which is why it is important to know what is important. What, at the core, will last forever.

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. ~ 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 ESV

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. ~ Hebrews 13:8 ESV

Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love. ~ 1 Corinthians 13:13 NLT

God is love. ~ 1 John 4:8b NLT

Our lives are going to be filled with new and different chapters, but the main theme running through them should be what is eternal and most important. Things that we don’t tangibly see. Things that will help bring stability and peace to our souls. Jesus, who delivered to us faith, hope, and love; who delivered us back to our Father, God.

So, if your favorite TV program is cancelled (Friends, sniff-sniff) or marred by a plot line you don’t care for. Or if you are in the midst of great change, or stuck in a slump. Don’t worry. It is a fact that everything is going to change, cling to that which does not to get you through the valley and mountain chapters of life. Cling to God.

May the Source of Love be with you. 😉
