“Everything we’d expected to happen since the Arrival didn’t. Everything we hadn’t did. It took two whole weeks into the 3rd Wave for us to realize that the deadly flu was part of their plan. Still, you tend to believe what you always believed, think what you always thought, expect what you always expected, so it was never “Will we be rescued?” It was “When will we be rescued?” ~ Cassie, The 5th Wave

Cassie’s assessment on how we think seems pretty accurate. Most of us go through life thinking how we’ve been taught to think by whoever raised us. We rarely if ever ask ourselves if there is another way to think. A better or more clear or true way that our current way of thinking. Our processing of information, if you will.

I think it is what Jesus was referring to as his “Way.” The Way of Jesus is living life under a different thought manual. We don’t think like mere humans anymore; we are to think more and more like God. Like immortals think rather than those with a time limit ticking away in the back of their minds.

Paul wrote to the Romans, “ Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Romans 12:2 ESV)

The prophet Isaiah wrote: “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9 NLT)

There are many different ways of thinking, but I’m going to go out on a limb and say that God’s way is the best. Now we just have to “transform” our minds so we have more God thoughts than non-God thoughts. 😉
