“You want to compare yourself to an insect, Cassie? If you’re an insect, then you’re a mayfly. Here for a day and then gone. That doesn’t have anything to do with the Others. It’s always been that way. We’re here, and then we’re gone, and it’s not about the time we’re here, but what we do with that time.” ~ Evan, The 5th Wave

Life is short. That’s no mystery to anyone over the age of thirty. And life seems to get shorter or go by faster with each year we grow older. But Evan makes a profound and true statement. It’s not how many years we live, it’s what we do with those years that count.

Do we help others? Are we kind? Do we strive to love everyone we come across (our neighbors)? Do we do good for people? Do we make wherever we are a better place just by being there? It doesn’t matter how long we have to do these things but that we do them, as much as them as we can with whatever time we have.

What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. ~ James 4:14 ESV
